What kind of info do you need to build a basic website?
Basic info for Contact Page and Index (Home) page:
- Business Name
- Phone number, address, email, and fax if you have one.
- Your office hours and when they can expect a reply.
- Logo if you have one.
- Photo for web banner or you can keep the one in the design (I am sure you'll need one for your school website.)
- A tag line or slogan if you have one.
- How your business solves a problem or meets a need! Very important.
- Make a line for retailers and distributors. Something like: Retailers and Distributors WELCOME. Contact us for wholesale pricing!
Product Page:
- List all your products with detailed descriptions and prices. (Leave out the prices if you think you will change them more than once a month. If you can go a month, I suggest leaving the retail price in. We can add - call for SALES or something like that at the bottom.)
- Small photos of the main products you are interested in promoting. 5 to 15 photos - 72 dpi, 300 x 300 pixels, jpg or gif.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Make a list of questions you think people will ask or have asked you about your company, products, service, return policy, guarantee, office hours, location, returns, etc.
About Us
- Information about your business, history, mission statement, how long you've been in business, members, etc. Include a photo of the CEO or president. The internet can be very nebulous and it is a good idea to have a tangible face to the company.
- Testimonies, product reviews, articles written by others about your business, products, or services.
FREE offers/downloads
- Recipes or samples - 5 to 10
- Brochures and Forms to download
- Articles relating to your business
Marketing - Opt-in Offers
- FREE e-book
- Newsletter Sign-up
- FREE report or article
Try to focus on just a few keywords and use them throughout the website, including in alt tags like your photos.
