A Lesson in Time

As life moves along at a brisk pace we often wonder where the time has gone. Is it really 2009! Oh my, where did the 90's go, or even the 70's go? The clock keeps ticking away the time and we wonder where did all the time go. Some have even suggested that perhaps the clock itself is moving faster. Of course this is only a perception, since science says all things are steady in regard to time, but maybe there is something to it.

Have you ever experienced the slowing of time? You know, a quiet picnic deep in the wooded hills on a sunlit summer day. That seems to slow the clock for me, how about you? Or when you just can't wait for the clock to tick 5:00pm so your monotonous shift, at a job you can't stand, will end. Does our attitude change our perception of time? It sure seems to.

In both examples above the time slowed down, but only one of them was desirable. Can we speed and slow time when we want to? I am not to sure about that, but we can slow down our minds so we can hear the Holy Spirit speaking to us. And we can slow down our thoughts so that we don't feel we can't take the time to stop and smell the roses.

Our thoughts are very important to us. And we can control them. For more on how to control your thoughts to deal with stress and bad habits read the health information section of this newsletter.

Our Thoughts - Are you in Control?

The Bible says: “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.” Pr 23:7 “A Merry Heart doeth good like a medicine.” Pr 14:22 There are 2 very important things about the mind; A personal relationship with God and the thoughts of the mind.
A strong relationship with God is the most important thing we can do to have good mental and spiritual health. There is a loving Creator who wants a relationship with every soul. But God will not force. Each person must ask for strength to fight temptations, deal with pain, and be guided to the right path.

Prayer time and personal devotion are the keys to unlock the great treasures of life. A meaningful prayer life is important to good spiritual health.

P - Praise God for blessings
R - Repent of wrong doing
A - Ask for your needs
Y - Yield to God’s will
E - Entreat the Holy Spirit
R - Repeat through the day

The first step in a good prayer life is to praise God for all the things you are thankful for. This gets you... To read the rest of this info sheet -- Click here and look for the info sheet entitled "Your Thoughts!"

Your Perspective and Light

The direction of light that falls onto your subject can change the whole mood of your photograph. Backlighting, where the light is from behind, side lighting, where the light is coming from approximately 90 degrees to the side, front lighting where the light comes from the front (often off to the side slightly), and various combinations of these.

When a truck passes by a wall do you always see a shadow? No, of course it could be cloudy. Well what if it is a bright sunny day, then do you always see a shadow on the wall? No, you may see light. Yes, light. An object can block light, thus causing a shadow such as in the photograph below on the right, or it can reflect light such as the photo on... To finish reading this article, click here.
