No Competitors in His Business

I have been a very competitive person by nature. Both competing against others, particularly "normal" people, and against myself and expectations of what I think I should be able to accomplish. Many of you can relate, I am sure. But it is interesting to note that I was not competitive with those I had no hope of beating. I held no jealousy toward them. (I was tempted, believe me.) Why? Why didn't I get competitive with those who could excel? Because there was not possibility of gain. Who wants to be disappointed with failure again, and again. But is this a good character trait?

God doesn't believe in competition. First of all He is perfectly aware of what each person can and can not do. He expect each person to use the talents they are given to the best of their ability and not crave the talents of another.

I come to realize when I am where God wants me to be there is no competitor. No one to take what is mine if I don't fight for it. No one who will take all my customers. God would not put me where I am if He didn't have a reason.

So many ministries and businesses are built by Christian people and yet they fear working with each other, because they are in the same competitive market. Do they not believe God is in charge? Can't God take care of a business, he certainly can take care of a universe.

I saw some very interesting quotes by Ellen White while I was studying the Publishing Ministry. She was quite clear we ought to be working together, even if we are in the same market, so to speak. If you are in the business God wants you to be in and you are following His principles, He will not over book customers. There will be enough to go around. God works far beyond economics and simple mathematics. It was once said by one ministry to another, "There is only so much pie to go around!" Whereby the other party said, "But God's got more pies in the fridge!" How very true.

B12 and Vegans!

Some of the more difficult vitamins to get for not only the vegan, but everyone!

Where exactly do you get vitamin B12? Bacteria. Yup, that's right, it comes from bacteria.

With micro-nutrients that are as controversial as B12 & D, there is A LOT of material to wade through. MOST of the information on the internet is opinion and propaganda so one must be selective in their sources. Just type in B12 deficiency in a search engine and you would think every vegan has a problem, but in reality, there are VERY FEW actual studies of documented deficiencies along with symptoms.

So, the information complied here was from as unbiased sources (as much as possible with humans involved). Basically there are 3 camps:
1. We must get B12 from external sources.
2. We can make our own B12
3. Both, not sure, maybe, what it, it could be, unsure......

Cream of Potato Soup

I love soup in the winter. Here’s one of my favourites:

In the cookbook Healthy Home Cookin’ Vol. 5 – Breakfast, Brunch, Soup & Salad

3 cups soy milk (or nut milk - cashew works well!)
1 cup water
2 to 4 Tbsp nutritional yeast flakes
3 cloves of garlic, or more to taste
1 large onion, sautéed in water if desired
2 to 3 Tbsp Golden Seasoning (or 2 tsp sea salt) (recipe on HealthyHomeCookin.com)
5 cups thinly sliced potatoes
2 to 3 Tbsp non-hydrogenated margarine, optional
1 cup Tofu Cottage Cheeze OR 1 pkg of silken tofu plus 1/3 cup to 1/2 cup Vegenaise to taste.)

Combine all ingredients (except Tofu Cottage Cheeze) in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer 10 to 15 minutes, or until potatoes are tender. Stir in Tofu Cottage Cheeze and serve.

Photography Articles are Back!

You've requested it, so we are bringing photography articles back. This month we are just offering a little tip, but stay tuned for more next month.

TIP: Go bigger!

So you need a really big file for a church poster or banner, but all you have is a small camera. Take 2 or 4 shots and merge them in Photoshop or other photo editing software. Many point and shoot camera's let you make a panorama shot, but THIS is NOT what you want. You want a large file with plenty of resolution, so take the time to make several shots, overlapping them a bit. Put them together and now you have a large file. Works best with landscapes, not so good with smaller subjects like food.
